I once again continued to work with By the People at the Library of Congress. Last time I worked on the African America Perspectives in Print campaign and to my surprise the campaign is now fully finished. It makes me proud that people volunteering has worked tirelessly to transcribe important Afro-American history but unfortunately for me it means I needed to work on a new campaign. Which led me to look around for new campaigns to help with.
One of the ones I saw based on my previous learning journal was the campaign on Clara Barton. Almost complete but needing review on over a third of all papers. When I looked at it, I understood why it needed so much review. Majority of it is written in not the best cursive on paper that is degrading with ink that is fading so it is quite a challenge to work with.

So instead of ripping my eyes out on that I decided to work on and do review of letters sent and received by Theodore Roosevelt. Probably one of the few good people to ever be US president. As for the connection with this class, I find it to be a reminder of history that it may be hard or challenging to tell what has happened in the past and decipher what is left of the artifacts we have. Along with that it makes me think of how with modern technology we may be able to develop new technology to convert these messes of papers to clean text to read and it may be sooner than we think.
