Speech Reflection
I didn’t really have any serious struggles with doing the initial speech personally. My biggest struggle when it came to the speech was just a moment when my brain shut off and I couldn’t articulate a word correctly which required a second take. I think I did a good job with the speech as I specifically did something I knew was a good idea, a note card style speech. A speech shouldn’t just be reading off a script which is a problem I noticed in my review of classmate’s speeches. I made little bits of text of what I should think about and articulate and when I watched classmates’ speeches, they tended to be robotic still, eyes locked on their screen, and without emotion as all they did was read a script and not give a good speech. For feedback I did get I saw it was a correct idea to go further in depth in some of the topics and talking points I was on.

It was smart that I should explain the skills that history field has taught me with examples of what those skills mean. It was completely true I should have gone more in depth on what my teacher did that made me understand my enjoyment of history. Finally, it was important not to just talk about dreams of what I will do after getting my bachelor’s degree but to discuss steps I will take to achieve them such as the master’s degree field of public history towards an applied history degree for job employment outside of the academic field. Along with this I will investigate opportunities for employment and internships in the field of museums and archival work in and around Campus. This assignment has been a good reminder to work harder and to investigate proper sources for the future of my in the historical fields.
